recalculates the fingerprint of every image, telling you what matches and what does not.
The file never leaves your computer. The arithmetic happens in this tab, like everything else.
It proves that every image in the package is byte for byte the one Walkstamp generated at the moment the fingerprint was computed. If someone opened the JPEG in an editor, erased a line from the screen and saved over it, the number would change and this page would say so.
It does not prove who generated it, when, or that what is on the screen is true. A fingerprint is a checksum, not a signature: anyone who altered the image and recomputed the hash list would pass here without an alarm. Tying authorship and date together is what electronic signatures do — a different thing, and one Walkstamp neither offers nor pretends to offer.
In practice it solves the common case: proving that the attachment the auditor received is the one that left the tester’s machine, without anyone having to take anyone’s word for it.
